Job Summary
The Quality Control Manager will develop and manage inspection and testing of materials, parts, and assemblies to ensure adherence to established requirements. The Quality Control Manager will supervise the Inspection team members in accordance with organizational procedures and goals with a continuous improvement mindset.  Partner with Operations teams to better support their quality control needs within a face paced environment. This position requires a leader that   will ensure the high quality of our operations, services, and products.
This position requires a confident, professional communicator with strong organizational skills.

Essential Functions
  • Ensure that the quality control programs are stablished and maintained in alignment with the business needs and that they conform to all applicable company and customer requirements.
  • Ensure that all external and internal requirement are met before our product is delivered to our customers.
  • Define quality procedures in conjunction with operations staff and perform training.
  • Create and document inspection criteria and procedures to align objectives with company goals.
  • Acquire and manage resources, as well as lead process and culture improvements.
  • Develop and manage relationships and partner with customers, collaborators, peers, partners, suppliers, and direct reports.
  • Supervise direct reports across multiple shifts; including but not limited to ensuring shop inspection coverage, time keeping approvals, vacation scheduling, overtime management, coaching and or counseling activities.
  • Develop and conduct applicable training, including quality measurement equipment.
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable business and quality processes and procedures such as FAR, DoD, Export Control, ITAR, NADCAP, ISP9001, AS9100, AS9102 and customer contractual requirements.
  • Lead improvement activities for product quality, delivery, cost and safety and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Champion 5S activities for assigned area.
  • Coordinate and provide day-to-day quality support and enforce compliance among production teams.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of company SOPs and best practices in correlation with quality requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a calibration program for all measurement and test equipment for Prototek, including customer supplied items.
  • Collect and analyze quality data reports on a scheduled and/or requested basis.
  • Maintain database utilized for nonconformance report creation and/or data analysis or quality records.
  • Lead by example, by wearing all required PPE.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Technical Competencies
  • Advanced knowledge of Quality Management System (ISO9100, AS9100, ISO13485 etc.)
  • Proficient knowledge of various measuring devices including Traditional CMM, Portable CMM, Vision Systems, Lazer Scanning layout and hand gages.
  • Proficient problem-solving skills using a variety of root cause analysis tools (A3, 8D, DMAIC, etc.)
  • Proficient knowledge to manage projects and schedules for successful outcomes.
  • Proficient knowledge of machining, metal forming, and mechanical assembly processes.
  • Proficient knowledge of industry materials, applications, and technologies.
  • Proficient knowledge of reading and interpreting prints, specifications, and other technical data.
  • Proficient knowledge of ERP systems: preferably Mie Trak
  • Proficient computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and variety of Inspection Equipment (CMM, Faro Arm, and Keyence vision systems) and programs like PC-DMIS, Calypso etc.

Education and Experience: 
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, or related technical field preferred.
  • 10+ years’ experience in a quality inspection role.
  • 10+ years’ experience in manufacturing industry required, preferably in a precision tolerance machining/metal forming environment.
  • 10+ years in a leadership/supervisory role.
  • Prototyping experience preferred.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Inspector Certification preferred.

Work Hours/Travel:
  • 1st shift work schedule: 5 – 9-hour shifts (45-hour work week)
  • Overtime as necessary (including occasional weekends if needed)
  • Flexible scheduling in agreement with manager
  • Travel: local between buildings
